The Plain Swift (Apus unicolor) is a medium-sized bird known for its impressive aerial acrobatics and long, scythe-shaped wings. This species is well-adapted for a life spent almost entirely on the wing, rarely landing except to breed. Plain Swifts are primarily insectivorous, catching their prey in flight. They are highly gregarious and can often be seen in large flocks during the breeding season. These birds are known for their distinctive screaming calls as they soar through the skies. Plain Swifts migrate over long distances, spending the non-breeding season in sub-Saharan Africa.
