Plain Xenops

Xenops minutus

The Plain Xenops is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive long, slightly curved bill, which it uses to probe for insects and spiders in tree bark and crevices. This species is typically observed moving methodically along tree trunks and branches, often in mixed-species foraging flocks. The Plain Xenops is a dull brownish-olive color overall, with a slightly paler underbelly and a hint of rufous on the wings. It is a relatively common and adaptable species, able to persist in fragmented and disturbed habitats.
