Psittacula cyanocephala (Linnaeus, 1766)

Plum-headed Parakeet Psittacula cyanocephala is a parakeet of India, breeding in the Oriental Region. It lives in forest, open woodland and city gardens, and is not found in the dry parts of western India. The male has a pinkish purple head, while the female has a grey head. It can be told from the similar blossom-headed parakeet by the head colour and the white tip to the tail. It is a gregarious bird, often seen in flocks, and flies swiftly with sudden twists and turns.
