Ictinia plumbea
The Plumbeous Kite is a medium-sized raptor found in Central and South America. It has a distinctive slate-gray plumage with a white head and underparts. This bird of prey is often seen soaring over open woodlands, forest edges, and savannas in search of small vertebrates and insects. It is known for its graceful flight and agile hunting skills. The Plumbeous Kite is a solitary bird, except during the breeding season when pairs may be seen performing aerial displays. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and deforestation pose threats to its populations.
