Plumbeous Kite

Plumbeous Kite, Ictinia plumbea, breeds across Middle America and South America from north-east Mexico to northern Argentina. It is a bird of lowland forest and savannah, and it also occurs on Trinidad. In the northern and southern parts of its breeding range, including Central America, Venezuela, Colombia, southern Brazil and southern Argentina, it moves seasonally. It is a kite in the Accipitridae and was described by Gmelin in 1788. It takes insects, catching them either from a perch or on the wing.
