The Plumbeous Water Redstart is a small passerine bird found in the mountain streams and rivers of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking plumage, with the male having a slate-blue upperparts and a bright rufous-orange belly, while the female has a more subdued grayish-blue coloration. These birds are often seen perched on rocks or branches near fast-flowing water, where they feed on insects and small aquatic invertebrates. They are known for their distinctive bobbing and tail-flicking behavior. The species is known for its adaptability to human-modified landscapes, often nesting near human habitations.
