Plushcap, Catamblyrhynchus diadema, is a tanager of the Andes and northern Venezuelan mountains, breeding from northern Venezuela through the Andean chain to north-west Argentina. It was described by Lafresnaye in 1842. It belongs to the family Thraupidae and is the only species in Catamblyrhynchus. It lives in humid montane forest and secondary forest close to bamboo, and is always linked with Chusquea bamboo. Its broad black bill and stiff forecrown feathers set it apart from other tanagers, with a chestnut body and bright golden-yellow forecrown.
