Polynesian Swiftlet

Aerodramus francicus

The Polynesian Swiftlet is a small, fast-flying bird found in the islands of the South Pacific. It has a dark brown plumage with a slightly paler underside and a short, forked tail. These swiftlets are known for their remarkable aerial acrobatics, often seen darting through the air in search of flying insects. They build their nests in caves and cliffs using saliva, which is collected for the production of bird's nest soup in some cultures. The Polynesian Swiftlet is an important part of the ecosystem, contributing to insect control and pollination in its habitat.
