Powerful Owl

Ninox strenua

The Powerful Owl (Ninox strenua) is a large and robust owl species native to Australia. It is known for its distinctive deep, haunting call and powerful talons. These owls primarily inhabit dense forests and woodlands, favoring areas with tall trees for nesting and roosting. They are skilled nocturnal hunters, preying on a variety of mammals, birds, and insects. The plumage of the Powerful Owl is predominantly dark brown with white markings, and it has striking yellow eyes. Due to habitat loss and urbanization, these owls face conservation challenges, and their populations are declining in some regions.
