Prevost's Ground Sparrow, Melozone biarcuata, is a passerine of Middle America, breeding from south-east Mexico to El Salvador. It belongs to the New World sparrows and was named for the French naturalist Florent Prévost. The bird is linked with semi-open woodland, coffee plantations, hedgerows and large gardens, where it uses undergrowth and thickets. It is usually encountered in pairs and is shy, with the best chances of seeing it at dusk or just after dawn. The species has a plain head pattern with a white face and a rufous crown that continues down the neck as a half collar.
