Prigogine's Nightjar

Caprimulgus prigoginei Louette, 1990

Prigogine's Nightjar, Caprimulgus prigoginei, is a nightjar of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa, where it breeds in the east of the country. It was described by Louette in 1990. The species is known from a single specimen collected in the Itombwe Mountains at Malenge. It is thought to be a forest bird. The female is dark brown with strong speckling, and in flight it lacks the white wing patch seen in many related nightjars. Pale brown wing spots and whitish tips to the tail feathers are also noted.
