Puerto Rican Emerald, Riccordia maugaeus, is a hummingbird that breeds in Puerto Rico. It is found across the island and is present in many wooded places, from coastal mangroves to mountain forest, as well as in dry and moist forest, plantations, secondary growth, gardens and towns. It is the island’s endemic hummingbird and was first described by Audebert and Vieillot in 1801. The species was once placed in Chlorostilbon, but is now treated in Riccordia.
