This species is known for its unique call, which resembles the sound of maracas. The Puerto Rican Lizard-Cuckoo primarily feeds on insects, lizards, and small fruits, and it is often observed foraging in the treetops. Due to habitat loss and predation, the population of this species is declining, and it is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
