Cinclodes excelsior
The Puna Cinclodes, scientifically known as Cinclodes excelsior, is a small passerine bird found in the high-altitude grasslands and wetlands of the Andes in South America. This species is characterized by its sturdy build, short wings, and long, slightly curved bill. Puna Cinclodes are highly adapted to their harsh environment, foraging for insects and invertebrates in the dense vegetation and rocky outcrops. They are known for their agile movements and distinctive vocalizations. The breeding behavior of Puna Cinclodes is relatively understudied, but they are believed to construct dome-shaped nests from grass and other plant materials. This species faces threats from habitat degradation and climate change.
