Puna miner

Geositta punensis

The Puna miner is a small, terrestrial bird found in the high-altitude grasslands and shrublands of the Andes mountains in South America. It has a distinctive streaked brown and white plumage, with a short, slightly curved bill adapted for probing the ground for insects and small invertebrates. Puna miners are typically found in open, arid habitats with sparse vegetation, and they are well-adapted to the harsh environmental conditions of their range. They are known for their secretive behavior and are often difficult to spot due to their cryptic coloration and elusive nature.
