Purple-backed Thrush

Turdus mupinensis

The Purple-backed Thrush is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking plumage, with a purple back, white underparts, and a distinctive black and white streaked throat. This species is known for its melodic and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. The Purple-backed Thrush forages for insects, berries, and small fruits on the forest floor and in the lower canopy. It is a shy and elusive bird, often difficult to spot despite its beautiful appearance. While its population status is not well-documented, it is believed to be relatively stable in its range.
