Purple-capped Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus ponapensis, is a bird of the Caroline Islands, breeding on Chuuk and Pohnpei in Micronesia. It belongs to the pigeon and dove family, Columbidae, and was described by Finsch in 1878. It is associated with moist lowland forest and mangrove forest in subtropical or tropical settings. Formerly, it was treated as part of the crimson-crowned fruit dove.
