Malurus coronatus
The Purple-crowned Fairywren (Malurus coronatus) is a small passerine bird found in Australia. The male has a striking plumage with a vibrant purple crown, black throat, and blue and black wings. The female has a more subdued appearance with brown and gray plumage. These birds are known for their energetic and social behavior, often forming small groups and foraging together in shrubby habitats. They primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates. The Purple-crowned Fairywren is commonly found in dense vegetation near water sources, such as mangroves, wetlands, and riverbanks. Due to habitat loss and predation, their populations are declining in some areas.
