Purple-throated Euphonia, Euphonia chlorotica, is a finch and euphonia of South America, with breeding range across the Guianan Shield, dry valleys of the central Andes, Amazonia, and south-east Brazil to north-central Argentina. It is placed in the family Fringillidae. The species is found in a wide spread of mainland countries, though it is not present in Chile, and in French Guiana it occurs only as a vagrant. It was described by Linnaeus in 1766. Its range is disjunct, and it is mainly associated with places outside forest or along forest edges.
