Purple-throated Sunbird, Leptocoma sperata, is a bird of the Philippines in the Oriental Region, where it breeds. It belongs to the sunbird family and was first described by Linnaeus in 1766. It is found in lowland tropical forest, mangrove forest, secondary forest, gardens and plantations, mainly at lower elevations. The male is notable for its dark upperparts, greenish crown and rump, purple throat and upper chest, and red on the lower chest and belly, though birds from Sulu and west Mindanao show yellow and orange there instead.
