Pygmy Batis

Pygmy Batis, Batis perkeo, is a bird of dry savannah and thorn scrub in south-eastern South Sudan, southern Ethiopia, Somalia and northern Tanzania. It belongs to the wattle-eyes and batises family, Platysteiridae, and was described by Neumann in 1907. Its range is centred on arid and semi-arid lowlands, with scrub, wooded grassland and bushy grassland among the habitats it uses. It is a very small, neat black, white and grey bird, with the male showing a bluish-grey head and back, a black face mask and a white eyebrow.
