Dicaeum pygmaeum
The Pygmy Flowerpecker (Dicaeum pygmaeum) is a small bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is known for its diminutive size, measuring around 8 centimeters in length. The male has a bright crimson throat and breast, while the female has a duller olive-green plumage. These tiny birds feed on nectar, fruit, and insects, often flitting among the foliage in search of food. They are known for their high-pitched calls and agile flight patterns. Despite their small size, Pygmy Flowerpeckers play an important role in pollination and seed dispersal within their forest habitats.
