Quailfinch

Ortygospiza atricollis (Vieillot, 1817)

Estrildidae — Waxbills, Munias & Allies

Quailfinch, Ortygospiza atricollis, is a passerine in the Estrildidae family and breeds across Sub-Saharan Africa. It was described by Vieillot in 1817. In western and central Africa it is a common estrildid finch, and some taxonomists treat it as part of the African quailfinch complex. Others go further and combine all three forms as one species.
