Quailfinch Indigobird, Vidua nigeriae, is a passerine breeding in Africa, including Senegal and Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria and Cameroon, and southern South Sudan. It is found in scattered sites, especially on river floodplains. The bird is a brood parasite of the African Quailfinch, placing its eggs in the host nest without removing any already there. It was once treated as part of the Variable Indigobird. The adult male has greenish-black plumage, while the female is brown above, buff below and marked with a pale supercilium. Many indigobirds look alike, so the host association is useful for identification.
