Quebracho crested tinamou

Eudromia formosa

The Quebracho crested tinamou is a medium-sized bird native to South America, specifically found in parts of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It is known for its distinctive crest and mottled brown plumage, which provides effective camouflage in its grassland and scrub habitat. These birds are primarily ground-dwellers, foraging for seeds, fruits, and small invertebrates. They are known for their low, whistling calls and are often difficult to spot due to their secretive nature. The Quebracho crested tinamou is not currently considered to be globally threatened, but habitat loss and hunting pose localized threats to its populations.
