Hypsipetes borbonicus

The Réunion bulbul (Hypsipetes borbonicus) is a medium-sized songbird endemic to the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. It has a distinctive appearance, with a dark gray plumage, a black crest, and a white patch on the cheek. This bulbul is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the dense forests and wooded areas where it resides. The species is primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally insects. Due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species, the Réunion bulbul faces conservation challenges, and its population is currently declining.
