Rand's flycatcher

Muscicapa randi

Rand's flycatcher (Muscicapa randi) is a small migratory bird found in the forests and woodlands of West Africa. It has a distinctive olive-brown upper plumage, a pale throat, and a whitish belly. This species is known for its agile aerial foraging behavior, catching insects on the wing. Rand's flycatcher builds cup-shaped nests in the understory of dense vegetation. It is often observed perched on a branch, making short sallies to capture prey. The population trend of this species is currently unknown, and further research is needed to assess its conservation status.
