Rattling Cisticola

Cisticola chiniana (Smith, A, 1843)

Cisticolidae — Cisticolas & Allies

Rattling Cisticola, Cisticola chiniana, is a passerine of the Cisticolidae family found across central, eastern and southern Africa. It lives in savanna and woodland, including arid, mesic and moist areas, and is also recorded in scrub, miombo and mopane, as well as along cultivation edges and woodland margins. It is especially noticeable in summer, when it calls from exposed perches on trees or bushes. Breeding takes place in the wet season of spring and summer, and the nest is a ball made from very coarse grass blades with a lining of fine plant material.
