Red-backed Mousebird, Colius castanotus, is a bird of western Angola in the Coliidae family. It was described by Verreaux, J and Verreaux, É in 1855. Its back carries a red or chestnut patch, which sets it apart from other mousebirds. It has the soft, fur-like plumage typical of mousebirds, and its wings are short and rounded. It lives near rivers, where trees, bushes and shrubs grow, and it is also found in less dense forest and thorny scrub.
