Red-backed Thrush

Geokichla erythronota

The Red-backed Thrush, scientifically known as Geokichla erythronota, is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive red back and creamy underparts. This thrush is known for its melodious and flute-like song, often heard during the breeding season. The Red-backed Thrush primarily feeds on insects, worms, and fruits, foraging on the forest floor and in the lower vegetation. It builds cup-shaped nests in trees or shrubs, where it lays and incubates its eggs. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to its population.
