Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Terpsiphone rufiventer, lives in west and central Africa’s tropical forests. It is a passerine in the monarch family and is also called the black-headed paradise flycatcher. The male has a black head, a mostly chestnut body and a long tail with streamers that are nearly twice the length of the body. Its plumage varies across its range. Females and young birds are browner and do not have the tail streamers. It is closely allied to the African paradise flycatcher, and the two can interbreed.
