Cinnyris chloropygius
The Red-bellied Sunbird (Cinnyris chloropygius) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of West Africa. This species is known for its striking plumage, with the male displaying a brilliant metallic green crown and back, contrasting with a vibrant red belly. The female has more subdued colors, with olive-green upperparts and a pale yellow belly. Red-bellied Sunbirds primarily feed on nectar, using their long, curved bills to extract the sweet liquid from flowers. They also consume insects and spiders, supplementing their diet with protein. These agile birds are often seen darting among the foliage, using their acrobatic flight to forage for food.
