The female has more subdued colors, with olive-green upperparts and a pale yellow belly. Red-bellied Sunbirds primarily feed on nectar, using their long, curved bills to extract the sweet liquid from flowers. They also consume insects and spiders, supplementing their diet with protein. These agile birds are often seen darting among the foliage, using their acrobatic flight to forage for food.
