Psittacula eques
The Red-breasted Parakeet (Psittacula eques) is a colorful parrot species native to Southeast Asia. These medium-sized parakeets are known for their vibrant plumage, with a predominantly green body, red patch on the breast, and blue tail feathers. They are social birds often found in flocks, and their raucous calls can be heard as they forage for fruits, seeds, and blossoms in the forest canopy. Red-breasted Parakeets are adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, including lowland forests, wooded areas, and cultivated lands. While their population is currently stable, deforestation and trapping for the pet trade pose potential threats to their long-term survival.
