Red-breasted Pygmy Parrot, Micropsitta bruijnii, is a parrot of the Moluccas, Bismarck Archipelago and Solomon Islands in Australasia. It belongs to the family Psittaculidae and was described by Salvadori in 1875. It occurs in boreal forest, subtropical or tropical dry forest, and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. Unlike other pygmy parrots, it breeds in trees rather than in arboreal termite nests, and it is found at higher altitudes than its relatives. It is the smallest genus of parrots, and it feeds mainly on lichens growing on tree bark.
