Red-browed Treecreeper

Climacteris melanurus

The Red-browed Treecreeper (Climacteris melanurus) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the woodlands and forests of eastern Australia. It has a distinctive red eyebrow stripe and a mottled brown and white plumage, providing excellent camouflage against tree bark. This species is known for its unique foraging behavior, using its long, curved bill to probe for insects and spiders in the crevices of tree trunks and branches. The Red-browed Treecreeper is a vocal bird, often heard emitting a series of high-pitched calls as it moves through the forest canopy. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its populations.
