Red-capped Coua

Coua reynaudii

The Red-capped Coua is a species of cuckoo endemic to the dry deciduous forests of Madagascar. It is known for its striking appearance, with a vibrant red cap, black and white body, and long tail. These birds are primarily insectivorous, foraging in the forest canopy for insects and small reptiles. They are also known for their distinctive calls, which include a series of melodious whistles and coos. The Red-capped Coua is a territorial species, often seen in pairs or small family groups. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species is facing increasing threats to its survival.
