Red-chested Swallow, Hirundo lucida, is a passerine in the swallow family that breeds across central, western and north-eastern Africa, including West Africa, the Congo Basin and Ethiopia. It is a non-migratory bird. It has a long, deeply forked tail and wings that are curved and pointed. Adults are slightly smaller than the barn swallow, which it closely resembles, and they also show a narrower blue breast band and shorter tail streamers. Young birds look more like barn swallow chicks.
