Red-crowned Parakeet, Cyanoramphus novaezelandiae, is a parrot of New Zealand, breeding on North and Stewart islands and their satellites, the Chatham Islands east of South Island, and the Auckland Islands south of South Island; it formerly occurred on Macquarie Island. It is a small parrot, and its key feature is the red marking on the head. Also known as red-fronted parakeet and by the Māori name kākāriki, it was once spread across the whole island but is now limited to a few mainland areas and some offshore islands.
