The Red-faced Barbet (Lybius rubrifacies) is a medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of West Africa. It is characterized by its vibrant plumage, with a striking red face and throat, and a black and white body. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of melodious whistles. Red-faced Barbets feed on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates, and they often forage in the canopy of the forest. They are cavity nesters, excavating holes in trees for nesting. Although not currently assessed by the IUCN, the Red-faced Barbet may face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
