Red-faced Lovebird

Agapornis swindernianus

The Red-faced Lovebird (Agapornis swindernianus) is a small parrot species native to the arid regions of southwestern Africa. These lovebirds are known for their striking red face and upper chest, contrasting with their predominantly green plumage. They are highly social birds, often forming large flocks and nesting in tree cavities. Their diet primarily consists of seeds, fruits, and vegetation. Red-faced Lovebirds are well adapted to arid habitats and can be found in savannas, woodlands, and scrublands. Due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, their populations are declining, and they are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
