Red-flanked Bluetail

Tarsiger cyanurus

The Red-flanked Bluetail, also known as the Orange-flanked Bush Robin, is a small passerine bird found in Asia. It is characterized by its striking blue and orange plumage, with the male sporting a bright blue tail and the female having a more subdued coloration. These birds inhabit dense, moist, coniferous forests, often found in mountainous regions. They are known for their melodious and varied songs, which they use to communicate and defend their territories. The Red-flanked Bluetail primarily feeds on insects and spiders, foraging on the forest floor and in low vegetation. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to their populations.
