Red Fody, Foudia madagascariensis, is a passerine bird of the weaver family that breeds in Madagascar and has been introduced across parts of the Indian Ocean region, including the Comoros, Seychelles and the Mascarenes. It is found in forest clearings, grassland and cultivated land, but not in dense forest. In Madagascar it is considered a pest of rice cultivation. The species was described by Linnaeus in 1766 and is placed in the genus Foudia, with the red fody as its type species.
