Red Fody

Foudia madagascariensis

The Red Fody, also known as the Madagascar Fody, is a small bird native to Madagascar and nearby islands. It is known for its vibrant red plumage, with males displaying brighter colors during the breeding season. These birds are often found in open woodlands, grasslands, and agricultural areas, where they forage for seeds, insects, and nectar. Red Fodies are social birds and are often seen in small flocks. They build dome-shaped nests using grass and other plant materials. The species is known for its adaptability and has successfully colonized new habitats. However, habitat loss and invasive species pose threats to their populations.
