This species is known for its distinctive trilling call and is often found in woodlands, savannas, and forest edges. It feeds on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. The Red-fronted Barbet is a cavity nester, excavating holes in trees for nesting. It is generally widespread and not considered globally threatened.
