Red-fronted Macaw

Ara rubrogenys

The Red-fronted Macaw (Ara rubrogenys) is a striking parrot species native to the dry and semi-arid regions of south-central Bolivia. Recognized for its vibrant plumage and distinctive red forehead, this medium-sized macaw is known for its social nature and strong pair bonds. The species is predominantly found in savannas, open woodlands, and palm groves, often congregating in large flocks. Unfortunately, the Red-fronted Macaw faces significant threats from habitat loss, illegal trapping for the pet trade, and competition for nesting sites. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining populations and secure its future in the wild.
