Poicephalus gulielmi (Jardine, 1849)
Red-fronted Parrot, Poicephalus gulielmi, breeds in central and western Africa and belongs to the African and New World parrot family. It is a parrot found across broad parts of the continent, and it is known for variation in the red or orange colouring on the head, thighs and wing bend. That colouring differs between its three subspecies. The species was described by Jardine in 1849 and is also called Jardine’s parrot. It is kept as a pet, and its ability to imitate speech and other sounds has helped make it popular.
