Red-fronted Rosefinch, Carpodacus puniceus, is a finch in the family Fringillidae and breeds across the high mountains of the Palearctic and Oriental regions. It occurs in the Altai, the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau, from south-east Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and western Xinjiang in north-west China through north-east Afghanistan and across the plateau to Qinghai and Gansu, then south through the Himalayas to northern Myanmar and northern Yunnan in south-central China. It uses high-alpine scree, meadows, bogs and cliffs, and makes some altitudinal movements in severe weather.
