Red-headed Trogon

Phaenicophaeus pyrrhocephalus

The Red-headed Trogon is a medium-sized bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive red head and upper breast, with a black body and white bars on the wings. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of deep hoots. Red-headed Trogons feed on insects and small fruits, often perching quietly while hunting. They nest in tree cavities, laying 2-3 eggs in a clutch. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss poses a threat to its populations.
