Red-headed Trogon

Harpactes erythrocephalus

The Red-headed Trogon is a stunning bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is known for its vibrant red head, green upperparts, and distinctive white bars on its wings. This species is relatively small, measuring around 25-30 centimeters in length. The Red-headed Trogon is often observed perched quietly in the mid-canopy, where it hunts insects and small fruits. Its melodious call can be heard echoing through the forest. This species is primarily found in dense tropical forests and is known for its secretive nature. The Red-headed Trogon is not currently considered to be at risk, but deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to its future.
