Red Lory

Eos bornea

The Red Lory (Eos bornea) is a striking parrot species native to the forests of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and surrounding islands. These colorful birds are known for their vibrant red plumage, with accents of blue and black. They have a playful and social nature, often forming large flocks in their natural habitat. Red Lories are nectarivorous, feeding on flower nectar, pollen, fruits, and seeds. They are also skilled climbers and acrobats, using their strong beaks and agile feet to navigate the forest canopy. Unfortunately, habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade have led to population declines in some areas.
