Pseudibis papillosa
The Red-naped Ibis, also known as the Indian Black Ibis, is a large wading bird found in parts of South Asia. It is characterized by its glossy black plumage, red facial skin, and long, curved bill. These birds are often found in wetlands, marshes, and rice fields, where they forage for insects, small fish, and amphibians. Red-naped Ibises are social birds and often gather in large flocks. They are known for their distinctive guttural calls and are considered to be important in Hindu mythology. Although they are not currently considered to be globally threatened, habitat loss and hunting pose potential threats to their populations.
