Red-naped Wheatear

Gypsophila rufipectus

The Red-naped Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in rocky desert and semi-desert regions of Central Asia. It is characterized by its striking black-and-white plumage, with a distinctive reddish patch on the nape. These wheatears are often seen perched on rocks or low shrubs, scanning the ground for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their agile and acrobatic flight, as they dart and hover to catch their prey. Breeding in open, arid landscapes, they construct cup-shaped nests in rock crevices or burrows. The Red-naped Wheatear is a migratory species, wintering in the Arabian Peninsula and parts of Africa.
